Every skin is unique

"We have been thinking intensively about animal welfare for many years... "

Suede is made from the hides of hunted animals that show characteristic features such as bullet wounds, hunter's marks and transportation marks. Modern tanneries use sustainable processes to produce this unique material.

“THERE ARE ONLY VERY FEW COMPANIES LEFT THAT HAVE MASTERED THE CRAFT OF CHAMOIS TANNING “

Leather is not just leather. Leather is a passion. For many centuries, leather has been a material that has accompanied us in our daily lives. Every hide has its own history. As clothing,
as upholstery for furniture, cars or as a material for shoes, belts or bags. We also see it as a great task and also as a challenge to preserve this unique material in its appreciation. We have been thinking intensively about animal welfare for many years and have built up a logistics chain. Short distances, species-appropriate husbandry and slaughterhouses that adhere to the rules. We only process leather from such farms. Genuine suede has other advantages too. The game is hunted and killed. Until this moment, the animal lives in the wild and the only stress it experiences is the disturbance caused by hikers, cars, cyclists and predators. No live transport, no antibiotics and no factory farming.

When hunted, there are visible marks on the skin, which often only become apparent after tanning and have various causes.

a) The shot
Single shot – reject. Ideally just over the blade. If the bullet hits
hits the ribs (feathers), the bullet may well have a diameter of 10 cm. That is two holes. If the hunter needs two shots, there will be four.

b) The hunter
How well does the hunter manage to remove the game from the blanket? The less experienced the hunter, the more visible the injuries on the flesh side of the blanket, which weaken the skin.

c) The seasons
The milder the winters, the more parasite damage is visible on the ceiling. There are areas that are heavily infested with mites and ticks. This can be seen as well as scars from thorns and injuries from barbed wire.

d) The fight
Stags are alpha animals. So it is inevitable that they will fight. The resulting injuries are visible on the rug and give the leather a unique character. The older the more scars. A fascinating detail. The power of this animal immortalized on its skin.

e) Transportation
The journey from the shot game to the car is usually long and takes place in rough terrain. As an experienced hunter, you know that the real experience usually only begins after the kill. “The best sport is
transporting the deer”. It is not uncommon for the animal to have to be dismembered on site and transported in pieces. There are many small and large obstacles along the way, which are immortalized on the blanket. All of this plays an important role in the quality, sorting and appearance of the leather. Each hide is unique and differs in color, shape and visible features.
