Ethical hunting. A core principle at Meindl.

Responsibility, origin and experience

For Meindl, hunting is far more than a deep-rooted tradition. It is part of our heritage and our understanding of Authentic Luxury: an appreciation for what is genuine, a respectful approach to natural resources and an awareness of where they come from.  We exclusively use hides from game harvested through ethical hunting. No animal is bred or hunted for us or solely for its hide. Hunting provides wild game meat and helps responsibly manage wildlife populations, maintaining a healthy balance between wildlife and its natural habitat.

Hunting does not mark the end of the cycle. The hide is valued as a precious natural material and given a new purpose. In our tanneries, it is traditionally chamois-tanned before being crafted in our own workshops.  Natural textures, scars and traces of a life in the wild remain visible. They speak of the hide’s origin and give each piece its individual character, shaped by craftsmanship and respect for the material.

DEVELOPED FROM FIRST-HAND EXPERIENCE

Hunting has long been a personal passion for Markus Meindl and an important part of his life. He spends much of his time outdoors, seeking out remote landscapes and challenging conditions that bring him closer to nature and continually shape his understanding of the hunt.

Markus wears and tests Meindl hunting clothing himself, in the very conditions it is designed for. Cold, wind and rain, long days in the field and physical exertion place particular demands on every garment. It is out in the field that what truly matters becomes clear. Good hunting clothing must do more than perform. It should provide reliable protection and freedom of movement, without ever getting in the way.

Ontario, Canada

Dense forests, wide lakes and a landscape shaped by nature. In Ontario, Markus Meindl experiences hunting in its most elemental form. A journey defined by patience, awareness and the quiet beauty of the Canadian wilderness.

Yukon, Canada

Ten days far from civilisation. No comforts, no shortcuts, just the vastness of the Yukon and one’s own limits. For Markus Meindl, the hunt becomes an experience of freedom and hardship, challenge and humility. A journey that brings nature, and what truly matters, into sharper focus.
